BattaBox presenter Odunayo heads to Eredo village in Ogun State, Nigeria to explore the local village way of life and traditions.

Most of the houses are made from mud bricks, there are few social amenities and lack of infrastrucutre, such as dirt tracks. The most common form of transportation is okada. Water is sourced from the local river and used to wash, drink, and cook.

"I have been making Garri for many years," says one mama, as she fries the traditional food; Garri is one of the main food sources in the region. "This is Egbado Garri from Egba land."

But many of the villages youth abandon life in the village to head to the cities, to look for opportunities and work.

But the men that stay in the village, often farmers and manual labourers, will gather in the evening to drink palm wine and gist.

"Don't drink it too much or it will chaa you!" warns one of the village youths as Odunayo drinks the fresh palm wine. "Everything is fresh in the village - the vegetables, the meat, the life, and the air."

peoples are very poor and drink dirty water, where is their government??? road are red color soil , there is no concrete in road, everybody drive heavy risk . soil are fertile but they do not know how to cultivate , they have no idea about hard cultivation .I think for that they are poor

6:22 why throw bags on the ground, to make it more dirty. You need some manners. Smh

um, the title is misleading from most of the commentary of this video. "The roads are underdeveloped", "The water is dirty", "There is no electricity for a month" are you sure you were enjoying the village way of life?. Come on now, Western media already does a good job highlighting the negatives. How you tell a story of your country/culture is how others will perceive it.

The people lives happy than us living in Oyinbo land. Life is so simple there even though they lack so many essential amenities. As a matter of fact my mother sent me to an uncle to a village some where in Abeokuta in Ogun state and I still remember my life there. I wish my children will travel home to enjoy a Yoruba culture.

I love african people. The ones from the village. I noticed that the city people are so different from the villagers. Villagers still have love and compassion for one another and genuinely humble

Oh my goodness. Thanks for taking out your time precious time to capture this clip. I am from Nigeria and lives in the Atlanta USA. Watching this video took me back to my childhood days. I love the view but my goodness. The suffering as recorded in the 80's is still there many decades after. But guess what the people "villagers" still smiles. You did not drink the water from the stream but you ate the food and the "local restaurant" thus you have tested the water either way. Thanks again for your candid hard work. Will like to give you just a little financial support if I can reach you. I know it takes a lot out of you doing this. God bless.

And I always wonder what the Governors of these States mean when they claim to have the best government looking at the conditions of the rural areas in Nigeria.
Best government my foot.
It is so sad that these Governors continue to steal the funds meant to better our people’s lives everywhere. Whereas, it wouldn’t cost much to make the lives of these people better. But the money earmarked are in the Politicians accounts overseas.
Thank you Sister for bringing everything to us unedited.
God bless.

Hmmm - I thought Nigeria had more resources - being supposedly "oil rich". Your government is not sharing the wealth. That is a shame.
